About the AGSSR: Arabian Gulf Society of Skeletal Radiology

The Arabian Gulf Society of Skeletal Radiology (AGSSR) is a Musculoskeletal (MSK) radiological working group concerned with skeletal diseases, diagnosis and intervention. This society is aimed at educating and bringing awareness to radiologists, clinicians and physicians by sharing knowledge and improving patient care.

The idea of forming the society started in 2007 when MSK radiologists from KSA, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain met in an international conference and decided to form a regional society in the Arabian Gulf. This was under the support and guidance of the president of the International Skeletal Society (ISS) at that time Professor Klaus Bondhorf from Germany. The society is recognized by the council of the GCC Ministers of Health.

The first annual meeting was held in Riyadh, KSA in March, 2008.

The society holds its annual meetings in the GCC countries in order to bring awareness and expertise to all of its members, in addition to Radiologists, Physicians and Allied Healthcare specialists concerned with the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal diseases. The meetings are either held alone or in conjunction with the Asian Musculoskeletal Society (AMS).
